Abstract
Despite their conceptual relevance as oxygen-substituted analogues of β-lactams, 1,2-oxazetidin-3-ones (oxa-β-lactams) remain a largely unexplored structural class, with only a few derivatives reported and no notable applications to date. Here, we present a robust and generalizable multicomponent strategy for the synthesis of structurally diverse oxa-β-lactams from aminooxyacetic acid, aldehydes/ketones, and isocyanides.
