Abstract
CDKN2A (p16) and CDKN1A (p21) are key regulators of cellular senescence and cell-cycle arrest, and are commonly used as biomarkers of biological aging. Expression of these genes was analyzed by RT-qPCR and compared with promoter methylation profiles obtained using Illumina iScan, together with chronological and biological age data from the Enigma cohort. Contrary to expectations, the measured expression patterns showed no significant correlation with methylation status or aging parameters.
