PhD Club: Quantification of Extracellular RNA from Plasma EVs by Anna Sekyrová

Dear colleagues,
I would like to invite you to the lecture by Anna Sekyrová "Quantification of Extracellular RNA from Plasma EVs". The lecture will be on Wednesday May 1, 2026 at 9AM in the room 1.09 at IMTM.

Abstract
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) from plasma carry promising RNA biomarkers, but their extremely low RNA concentrations make reliable quantification a major obstacle in EV research. Traditional methods like Qubit and Agilent Bioanalyzer often fail to provide accurate measurements for these trace amounts, leading to inconsistent results. In this lecture, I will present a robust RT-qPCR-based workflow using PrimePCR SYBR Green assays and synthetic RNA standards to achieve absolute quantification of EV RNA as copy numbers per reaction. I will also discuss validation of EV-specific reference genes and how they outperform classic housekeeping genes for normalization in plasma EVs.
