On 26 June 2026, Pavel Stejskal was awarded the 3rd Albert Schweitzer Prize for Medicine, presented by the Embassy of France in the Czech Republic during a ceremonial event held at the French Embassy in Prague.
The awards were presented by Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, in the presence of Stéphane Crouzat and distinguished guests from the scientific community. The Albert Schweitzer Prize recipients are selected through a two-stage evaluation process. The final stage consisted of a presentation and defense of the candidate's PhD research before a committee chaired by Arnold Munnich at the French Institute in Prague.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity for informal discussions and networking with leading scientists, including Professor Jean-Marie Lehn and Pascal Mayer, whose pioneering work laid the foundations for modern Illumina sequencing technology.
This prestigious recognition highlights the outstanding quality of our colleague's research and represents an important international achievement.
